Resources
Resources are the things people use to achieve their goals or meet their needs. They can be human, or non-human.
Economic Resources
Economic resources are directly linked to finance eg. wealth, savings, credit
Non-economic resources
Non-economic resources are those that do not have a direct link to money or financial aspects. Examples include love, friendship etc
Human resources
Include what people can do it the skills & abilities people have and those resources that cannot be used independently of people. Eg. Energy, Time, Interests, Knowledge & Creativity.
Non-human resources
Include tangible things or objects that exist externally of people. They can be seen, experienced & uses by people. They include, electricity, books etc
Formal resources
Those that are structured & well-organised. They provide people with a specific type of service or support, often in areas of primary needs
Informal resources
Have little structure. The support they offer is the result of people interacting for a common purpose. Informal resources include family, friends, peers & neighbours.
Wellbeing
The degree of satisfaction experienced by an individual or groups when needs are met
Community
Group of people who share similar beliefs & customs and who may live in the same area.
People with disabilities
Persons with disabilities include those who have long-term physical, mental, intellectual or sensory impairments in which interaction with various barriers may hinder their full and effective participation in society on an equal basis with others’
Homeless people
Condition of people unable to acquire and maintain regular, safe, secure and adequate housing, or lack ‘fixed, regular and adequate right time residence’.
Primary Homelessness
Experienced by people without conventional accommodation (eg. sleeping rough or in improvised dwellings)
Secondary Homelessness
Experienced by people who frequently move from one temporary shelter to another (eg. emergency accommodation, youth refuges, ‘couch surfing’).
Tertiary Homelessness
Experienced by people staying in accommodation that falls below minimum community standards (eg. boarding housing and caravan parks).
