Collective Bargaining- to secure better working conditions.

Cultural Role- To encorage and assist in the expression of indegenous culture.

Economic Role- To divise strategies to reduce uneployment.

Educational Role- to fund education of members and their children

Future Role- To gain dignity and social justice for members

Political Role- To maintain a link with political parties and even sponsor members to run for political office, to gain political unity.

Social Role- To look aftet members who are unemployed,tired or sick

Kinds of Industrial Action by Employees

A

Close Shops- Means worker to be hired must join and remain a member of an abread union

Strike- Individuals stop working with the permission of the union.

Sick Out- Workers all pretend to be sick on the same day ,mostly done in medical field

Go Slow- Workers work at a very slow or snail pace without any breach.

Demonstration-Workers stop working and take up place cards.

Pickiting- Workers gather at our near entrance and try to influence other workers to stay away.

Suspension- Workers are temporarily sent home usually with pay,pending a hearing.

Lock out-Workers are not allowed to enter the workplace payless is a test of survival.

Arbitration- No agreement can be reached with the union and the disput is submitted to a third party for judgement.

Negotiation- Meeting with the union hoping for a friendly settlement of issues.
