What are two ways you can group data in Power BI?
- Grouping
- Binning
What is the difference between grouping and binning?
Grouping in Power BI gives you the ability to manually divide data points into separate groups of your choice.
Binning automatically separates data points into segments referred to as bins.
How do bins work?
You provide the number of outcome bins and Power BI splits data points between them.
OR
You provide the size of the bins.
How do you create a group?
Option 1
1. Ctrl+Click on the sections of the chart you want to be in a group. For example, select the US bar and the Canada bar to create a North America group.
2. Right Click and select Group Data

Click on the field that has the values you want to group. Right click and select New Group.
I looked around. There is no way to create a group from the Ribbon. You have to create a group by selecting the desired sections on the visual
How do you edit a group?
Option1
Click on the newly created Column1(groups) and select Edit Group

How do you rename a group?
In the Edit Groups window, double click on the group name title and you will be able to rename it.

How do you add an item to an existing group?
- Click on the Ungrouped Value you are interested in adding to an exiting group
- Click on the group you want to add the item to
- Click Group
