Storming
Conflict stage. After forming stage. Issues about control, authority, and power dominate. Arguments and power struggles. Resistance and hostility are intense.
Norming
Cohesive stage. After storming. Resistance is overcome, consensus evolves, and members feel loyalty, trust, pride; norms and standards develop
Performing
Working stage. Last stage. Task completion is the focus, clear structure and purpose, clear and flexible roles, and effective creative problem-solving
Forming
Orientation stage. Testing dominant behavior. Members meet and work at defining their own individual and interpersonal boundaries and boundaries of the task they are expected to accomplish
Coordinator
Clarifies relationships between various ideas or suggestions this bringing them together
Procedural technician
Arranges the room and furniture, distributes handouts, operates audiovisual equipment, and goes for what is needed
Harmonizer
Relieves tension in conflictual situations between group members, thus facilitating peace. Role helps create and maintain group cohesiveness.
Group observer
Observes the group process and gives evaluative interpretations of what is observed to the group. Keeps record of diff aspects of group processes.
