Group Interviews Flashcards
What is a Group Interview?
Where individuals are interviewed as a group: guided and led by interviewer who is meant to build a rapport as well as trust to create a secure environment.
Example of a Group Interview:
Willis studied 12 lads in a Group Interview, conducting observations on their behaviour. He found that they had no interest in school, and as a result ended up with working-class jobs.
Advantages of Group Interviews:
Informed consent, right to withdraw, no deception, high validity, quicker to get everyone’s perspectives.
Disadvantages of Group Interviews:
Costly, time-consuming, difficult to access, skill needed to interact with a group, socially sensitive topics, socially desirable answers, unreliable.
