Q

Why do group 7 elements get less reactive a you go down the groups?

A

Fluorine’s outer shell is very close to the nucleus so it attracts electrons from other atoms very strongly to gain electrons and fill its outer shell. Moving down the group the outer shell is further away form the nucleus so there is less attractions and therefore harder to gain electrons from other atoms.
