Group 2 Muscles Flashcards
Plantaris origin
Lateral supracondylar ridge of the femur.
Plantaris insertion
Medial aspect of the posterior surface of the calcaneus.
Plantaris action
Flexion of the knee. Plantarflexion.
Plantaris innervation
Tibial Nerve
Soleus origin
-posterior surface of the head and upper 1/3 of the shaft of the fibula; -middle 1/3 of the medial border of the tibia, tendinous arch between tibia and fibula.
Soleus insertion
calcaneus
Soleus action
-Plantar flexion -Reversed origin insertion action: when standing, the calcanius becomes the fixed origin of the muscle; -stabilizes the tibia on the calcaneus limiting forward sway.
Soleus innervation
Tibial nerve
Gastrocnemius origin
lateral and medial condyle of femur.
Gastrocnemius insertion
tendo calcaneus (achilles tendon) into mid-posterior calcaneus
Gastrocnemius action
Flexion of the knee. Plantarflexion.
Gastrocnemius innervation
Tibial nerve
Fibularis Brevis origin
Lower two-thirds of lateral fibula
Fibularis Brevis insertion
Fifth metatarsal
Fibularis Brevis action
Plantarflexion, eversion
