atomic radius increases
1st ionisation energy decreases

how does atomic radius increase going down period 2?
a full energy level of electrons is added between each element
how does the 1st ionisation energy decrease going down group 2?
all outer electrons in full s orbital
shielding increases
effective charge on nucleus decreases
weaker attraction to outer electron
so less energy required to remove the outer electron
how does the mp/bp decrease going down group 2?
all form 2+ ions in metallic structure
increased shielding causes weaker effective uclear charge
decreases strength of electrostatic attractions with delocalised electrons
so less energy required to overcome them (mp/bp lower)
