Why as the element gets lower in the group it becomes more reactive?

All group 1 elements have one electrons to loose, as the element get lower in the group the distance from the nucleus to the outer shell of electrons gets larger, so its easier to escape the nucleus. Also, the more shells of electrons between the outer electron and the nucleus it reduces the nucleus’ effect.
