Greensboro sit in
White only lunch counters, black people sat in there as a protest, some white customers singled out a white protester and beat him up.
Greensboro events of 1st Feb
1960- Izell Blair, Franklin Mclain, Joseph McNeil and David Richmond. Four black college students in Greensboro, North Carolina, were shopping in Greensboro Woolworthks department store, then sat in a segregated lunch counter.
Told to leave but stayed until closing time.
Greensboro events of 2nd Feb
About 25 students arived and sat at the counter in shifts, local papers reported the story and word spread.
Greensboro events of 4th Feb
Over 300 students took shifts at the sit in- black, white, male, female. It spread to other segregated lunch counters amd many held their own sit ins in the following weeks.
Greensboro- CORE and SCLC
Asked to send people to train students in non-violent protest tactics. At meeting, SNCC (Student Nonviolent Coordinating Committee) set up.

Ella Baker SCLC member has meetings with studeng groups in Raleigh, North Carolina to plan student protests in the south.
