They breed in the dry season so that the young hatch in wet season where there is more accessible food.

Head bobbing, extension and retraction of the dewlap, and muzzling or biting female’s neck.

A
Males are heavier, have a dewlap, large femoral pores and hemipenal bulges.
Females are lighter, and have no femoral pores.

How to handle
A
Approach slowly, move quickly picking up the iguana. One hand under the shoulder and another under the back legs to support the tail and base. Never pick them up by the tail.
