males will do a dance ritual and leave behind a spermatophore, a clump of sperm that the female later picks up through her cloaca.

How to handle them
A
Do not handle them with bare hands. Support the legs/feet to make them feel secure. Hands should be cool when handling them.

What is special about newts and if they lose a body part?
A
They can regrow parts of their body such as tail, jaw, ears, heart, spine, eyes and brain.
