Crimes where the environment itself is damaged.

What is secondary crime (South)?
Crimes that come out of conflicts between huamns and the environment but are not defined as the harm to the environment.
What are examples of secondary crime (South)?
- State violence against groups
- Hazardous waste
What is the anthropocentric view on crime?
Laws protect the offenders more than the environment as they have a right to dominate the planet as they are more important.

What is the ecocentric view?
Humans are equally important as the environment.
What is an example of green crime?
The Chernobyl Nuclear Accident.
What are the probelems researching green crimes?
- Differnet laws: some harmful action may be a crime in one country but not another.
- Difficulties in measurement: often carried out by people who have the ability to conceal their crimes.
- Use of case studies: limited generalisations about green crime.
