Q

What to put in GB:

A

I-solar panels to produce building’s electricity
2- Solar thermal heating system to heat water
3- high performance thermal windows and doors that reduce heat losses and increase daylight.
4- grey water recovery to reduce waste water and water consumption to use it in toilet flushing and watering plants.
5- low flow water fixtures to reduce water usage.
6- home energy manager: control panel to control and manage energy consumption.
7- energy efficient lighting.
8 - demand response appliances: high efficiency - energy labels A.
9-geothermal or underfloor heating or cooling.

2- toxic paint that have VOCS and lead.
3- synthetic insulation.
4- bacteria from toilets.
5- construction materials / construction, dust, small particles.
6-smoke.
7- poor circulation and lack of fresh air.

Q

Mold and mildew

A

Causes: No insulation-thermal bridges- water leak- no roof inclination - leak from upper floor - no roof insulation.
Effects: rapid spread because of lack of fresh air - color changes based on type, material and temp.

Q

How to keep moldout of buildings?

A

Control humidity levels - fix roof Windows and pipes leaks - clean and dry after floods - ventilating shower, laundry and cooking areas - use AC or dehumidifier during humid months - enough ventilation in bathrooms and kitchen - don’t use carpets in bathrooms.

Q

Principle of rating system

A
  • To measure the sustainability levels of GB and provide best practice experience in the highest certification level.
  • it has given benchmarks, design, construction and operation.
  • several criteria compiled in guide lines and checklists for building owners
