What kind of music is greek music?
Folk music - used for celebratory songs for weddings, sorrowful laments and songs telling stories of war and heroism
What is the Bouzouki? (Strings)
A long neck, with three of four pairs of strings, and is played with a plectrum
What is an Outi (or oud) (Strings)
Pear-shaped, with a short neck
What is the lauoto (strings)
Look like an oud but with a longer neck, has frets and is played with a plectrum
What is the lyra? (strings)
Has three strings, played with a bow
Some wind instruments to take note of:
Floyera, karamoudza and bagpipes
What is the daouli?
A drum with two heads tuned to different pitches
What is the toubeleki?
A goblet-shaped drum. Different tones can be created by striking the centre of the drumhead with the whole hand, or by hitting the edge with finger tips
What is the defi?
