A red grape that likely originated on the island of Lemnos where it is vilified on its own. The rest is grown in northern Greece. In the Slopes of Meliton PDO it accounts for 70% of the blend. It’s also grown in the famous Mount Athos vineyard.
What is Mandilaria?
A red grape grown in the Aegean Sea. The only PDO to feature the grape is Rhodes PDO. On Crete it is usually blended with Kotsifali or Liatiko. On Paros it is blended with Monemvasia and on Santorini, where it is the most widely planted red grape, it is blended with Mavrotragano.
