People who had the right to participate in government.

A poet who wrote the Iliad and Odyssey.

A body of stories about gods and heroes that try to explain how the world works.

Short stories that teach the reader lessons about life or give advice on how to live.

Was the greatest mathematician and astronomer of her time, for being the leader of the Neoplatonist school of philosophy in Alexandria.
Who was Archimedes?
Archimedes of Syracuse was an Ancient Greek mathematician, physicist, engineer, astronomer, and inventor from the ancient city of Syracuse in Sicily.
Who was Plato?
A student of Socrates, created a school where everyone could discuss ideas, wrote “The Republic” which described Plato’s idea of an ideal society.
Who was Hippocrates?
The greatest Greek doctor.
Who was Alexander the Great?
A Macedonian emperor who was one of the greatest conquerors of all time.

A brilliant military leader and strong king.
What does Hellenistic mean?
Greek-like.
What is a phalanx?
A group of warriors who stood close together in a square.

An ancient tribe that lived on the alluvial plain around the rivers Haliacmon and lower Axios in the northeastern part of mainland Greece.
