What was the Great Turn?
The NEP was abandoned for rapid industrialisation at any cost and collectivisation in agriculture
Stalin believed that is was a second revolution so that he could be sent a a revolutionary leader. He wanted to control the revolution from above
Why was the Great Turn enacted because of the industry?
Serious weakness in industrial management and needed to be more efficient to improve industrial good quality
Why was the Great Turn enacted because of working conditions?
The conditions in both agriculture and industry were harsh from the food shortages, unemployment and living standards.
Why was the Great Turn enacted because of the drive to industrialisation and the NEP?
The NEP wasn’t industrialising quick enough for the Bolsheviks and the amount of grain produced was insufficient

Grain production decreased dramatically. In the winter of 1727 - 28 the government received 25% less grain than the year before.

The NEP was disliked because it was a halfway house to Socialism which was unpopular with many Bolsheviks

How did Stalin change some cities?
He created cities just for a certain job such as Magnitogorsk, a vast new industrial complex in the city
What were the issues with the FYP with agriculture?
The Kulaks were seen as the backbone of the agricultural economy and the harsh impositions and collectivisation would cause less production

They thought it was a gamble and thought that it was seen as a magical hand to solve the economy but it wouldn’t
