How to make an idea list?
identify the main topic and then write down all related concepts below it
a visual representation of ideas and their connections with one another
Idea map
How to make an idea map?
Put the big idea at the center. Add related ideas by writing it in a circle near the big idea, draw a line between the two to show how ideas are connected. Continue this process until you generated enough concept.

- shows similarities and differences
Venn Diagram
- also known as decision trees
- used to represent hierarchy, classification and branching
Network Tree
- known as semantic map
- used to investigate and enumerate various aspects of a central idea
Spider Map
- used to display the nature of the problem and how it can be solved
- contains problem description, it causes and effects, and logical solutions
Problem-solution Map
used to show the chronological order of events through a long bar labeled with dates and specific events.
Timeline
Two types of timeline:
Linear and Comparative
It is a type of timeline that shows events that happened within a period of time.
Linear
This timeline shows two sets of events that happened within the same period of time
Comparative
used to map events in a story
Plot Diagram
Major events to be placed in the plot diagram are:
a. Exposition
b. Inciting moment
c. Rising Action
d. Climax Action
e. Falling Action
f. Resolution
One of the major events in plot diagram where in the initial part where characters, settings, and relationships are established
Exposition
One of the major events of plot diagram where the part which brings about the change or conflict
Inciting moment
One of the major events of plot diagram where the part where conflict and the characters are developed
Rising action
One of the major events of plot diagram where the highest point of the story where the major conflicts are confronted
Climax
One of the major events of plot diagram where the events immediately following the climax which lead to the closure of the conflict/s
Falling action
One of the major events of plot diagram where the conclusion or closure of the story
Resolution
used to show the logical sequence of events
Series of Events Chain
- used to better understand the causal relationship of a complex phenomenon.
- shows the factors that cause a specific event or problem, as well as details of each cause
Fishbone Map
- used to describe how a series of events interact to produce a set of results repeatedly.
Cycle
- used to map out arguments and evidence that prove a viewpoint.
- useful when processing persuasive or argumentative text
