It originated from Kaoru Ishikawa. It shows cause and effect relationships even as it reveals an onward development to end in the ultimate.
Ishikawa or Fish Diagram
It is used to show the movement or sequence in time of events or steps in a process. It can also illustrate cause-effect relationships in an academic text.
Flowchart
It shows a central concept with other concepts emanating from it.
Sungram
It shows hierarchy of concepts with the base as the broadest and the most basic on which the succeeding level is built and the apex or top as the narrowest built on the preceding level.
Pyramid
It is used to compare items on a number of points and makes use of tabular presentation or diagram.
Grid
It is limited to one point of comparison and shows at one glance the difference between a number of items on that particular point.
Bar Graph
It shows classification: the relationship between a general or subordinate concepts under it, and the examples to illustrate such concepts. It shows a general to specific relationship and takes a downward movement.
Tree diagram
It is used to show the sequence or movement of events in a story. Inverted checkmark.
