Grant Flashcards
What did theory did Thomas and Tulving (1973) propose?
Thomas and Tulving proposed the idea that memory is best when information provided at encoding is also present at retrieval of memory.
What does Context Dependant Memory refer too?
Context Dependent Memory refers to improved recall of specific information when the context presented at encoding is the same as during retrieval.
What does State-Dependant Retreval
There is also state-dependent retrieval which suggests you have to be in the same
state during retrieval as you were during encoding, such as being sober at both or drunk at both leads
to better performance than mismatching e.g. drunk at encoding and sober at retrieval or the other
way around.
