grammar possesive and compound nouns Flashcards
When something belongs to a particular person or thing
APOSTROPHE AT THE END
If a name (or singular noun) finishes in -s
either put an APOSTOPHE AT THE END or ADD ´S
with plural nouns
we put the apostrophe after the -s
with plural nouns that DON´T end in -s
we add -´s
we omit the word when -´s refers to
PREMISSES

´s or ´s with time expressions
Eg: yesterday´s news
- if we mention two people…*
we put the -´s on the second name
using of instead of apostrophe
with things or abstract nouns
to express possesion with a long phrase
we tend to us of and not -´s
With friend, college, etc
we often say
eg: a friend of + name/noun + ´s
