What is the word order for adjectives?
A
- Sentances follow : Verb-Subject-Object rule
- ‘Subject : Noun’
- Adjectives come after the noun they modify
- e.g. الكتاب الجديد (al-kitāb al-jadīd) - “The new book”

Adjectives in Arabic must agree with noun in gender, number, and case.

How do you describe something ‘specific’? ie. The big book.

- Both noun and its adjective must be specific - prefix ‘al’
* al - noun + al - adjective - Describes the noun more specifically
* Al kitab Al Kabir الكتاب الكبير)

What happens when you combine a : Definite noun + Indefinite adjective?
A
Produces an “is/are” sentence
o Al Kitab Kabir : “The book is big.”

What happens when you change the definitiveness of adjectives?
A
- Making adjectives definite or indefinite changes whether you’re describing specific qualities of a definite noun or making a statement about it.
- Ie. Changes the meaning of the sentance
