Principles of design

Smooth movement repeated again and again. Eye would move easily from one to the other
Rhythm
Parallel lines formed by the use of seams, buttons, embroidery, lace and etc.
Repetition lines, colors, or accessories
Created by gathers eyes can move easily. Seen in gathers on neckline, arm and skirt.
Radiated lines
Gradual change of lines, shape or shade of the color
Gradiation
Relationship of different portion of design. Give a feeling of oneness.
Harmony
Creates a visual dimentions of length and width. Defines a shape or silhouette and conveys a mood of a character.

Secondary colors
Produced by mixing two equal amounts of primary colors and secondary colors
Intermidiate colors
Primary, secondary, intermidiate. No white, black and grey.
Pure colors
Pure colors are also called
Normal, true and basic colors

Tints are also called

Pure colors mixed with black
Shades

Grayed colors
Grayed colors rather than bright. Dull

Elements of design
Line and color
Family group name of a color. Ones they are combined differently and given new names
Hue
Refers to the lightness or the tint or the darkness of the shade.
Value
Brightness or dullness of a color. Contrast
Intensity
Area inside and enclosed shape
Space
Showing the curves of a body. Includes the shape of the face, neckline and the full body or figure.
Form or shape
Volume space enclosed a surface
Form
Simply a flat space enclosed by a line
Shape
Surface quality of an object, rough, smooth, silky, stiff, soft
