Galant had a cruel owner, Van Der Merwe, who beat his slaves. once Galant heard that slavery might be abolished he overheard Van Der Merwe saying he would never free his slaves Galant knew he had to rebel. he gathered slaves from nearby farms and they killed Van Der Merwe and two other white ppl.
