How many satellites a receiver locks onto is determined by?
Number of satellites in view
Max number of satellites receiver hardware/software is designed for
GPS vulnerability?
Spoofing and jamming
A modern TDL (tactical data link) must be?
Accurate, secure, clear, easily assimilated, use of standard format and fast
What does a TDL do?
Carry sufficient data, close enough to real time (20 seconds or less) to be useful in a tactical situation
Basic TDL architecture?
Sensor
Data handling display system
Cryptographic system
Comms system - transmitter/receiver
3 fundamental types of a TDL system?
Point to point - 2 comm endpoints or nodes
Broadcast - units capable of processing data transfer to units not capable, can be transferred to multiple units
Netted - ensures simultaneous real time connectivity between all connected networs and data links
TDL modes of operation?
Simplex - one way only
Duplex - two way simultaneously
Semi duplex - two way, but not simultaneously
What STANAG (standardised NATO agreements) are link 11 and link 16?
Link 11 - STANAG 5511
Link 16 - STANAG 5516
Link symbology
Shape - environment - sea, land, air, space
Colour - is HUFN - Hostile, unknown, friendly or neutral
What documents would contain the frequencies and crypto details to use for a mission?
ATO or optask
