Ceann Comhairle
- meaning head of council, they act as speaker or presiding officer for the Dáil
- their roles include;
1. Callling on members within the Dáil to speak,
2. Putting questions to the House as required
3. supervising divisions and declares results of votes
Manifesto
- a party’s oublic declaration of policy amd aims, especially one issued before and election by a political party or candidate
Party
- a collective entity or organisation that co-ordinates candidates to compete in an election under a shared label
- Commonly, share the same or similar political ideologies
Policy
ideas/plans that are used as the foundation for making decisions
Liberal
- supports active government involvement which promotes individual welfare
conservative
- in favour of limited government role in society
Socialism
- in favourof both government + society being under democractic control of the people

- strict obedience to authority of power
totalitarianism
*a single political figure/authority has complete control over a state
libertarianism

- belief in political freedom and liberty are most important with little involvement from the government
democracy
- citizens of a country elect who governs them
- everyone has equal say in legislative decisions
representative democracy

- citizens elect politicians to represent their interests in government

- a way of imagining and therefore creating a community
- an identification of one’s nation and its interests/beliefs, especially to the detriment or exclusion of another nation

government with a King/Queen as the ruler

- government where the elite class rule
- Order of King, Queen, (Crown/heir/eldest) Prince, Princess, Duke/Duchess, Marquis/Marquess, Earl/Count, Viscount, Baron.

absolute monarchy
- holds absolute power
- majority of monarchies operated this way up until the Magna Carta was inducted during King John of England violated ancient laws and customs in 1215
consitutional monarchy
- hold limited power
- requires momarch to share power with governing bodies

Autocracy
*A state where that adheres to totalitarian ideologies and have one person in charge
dictatorship
when a ruler has absolute power
E.g Kim Jong Um
military dictatorship
a dictator that holds power as a military officer on behalf of the military
E.g Japan w/ the shogunate from 1192-1867 Kamakura-Meiji period
