A government run by religious doctrine.
Example: Iran
Theocracy
means the power is given to the people citizens, of the nation.
Example: United States
Democracy
one person is in power. Two types of examples: Monarchy or a dictatorship.
Autocracy
A country is ethnically the same. Example:
Japan
Nation-State
Vote for someone to represent us in government.
Republic
When every citizen is given an equal vote in government and, together, make all of the important decisions
Direct Democracy
When citizens elect (vote for, choose) lawmakers to represent their interest in the government.
Indirect democracy
A small group of people that are in charge.
Oligarchy
This is when there is no sharing power with other authorities.
Dictatorship
The Monarch holds total control over the country.
(You have to be born into the family to take this position)
Absolute Monarchy
This is when a Monarch holds some power but it is restricted by a constitution.
Constitutional Monarchy
This means no one is in charge!
Anarchy
A group of people that control the country, make laws, and keep order.
Government
What are roles of the government?
To make and enforce laws, protect people, and to provide public services.
what three power to all governments have?
Make laws, enforce laws, and judiciary power (alter laws)
