MVP

A
  • School and community staff train senior pupils to be mentors. These mentors then work with young people to discuss issues affecting them and how to prevent crimes. They commonly use scenario- based learning
  • For example, in 2019 students from Ellon, The Gordon Schools, Kemnay and Westhill academy took part in MVP. They reported the mentorship approach helped reduce violence and aggressive behaviour especially amongst younger people

Crime Prevention Campaigns

  • These are designed to try to stop people from committing crimes. They work to educate potential offenders of the consequences of their actions as well as potential victims of how they might be at risk.
  • For example, No Knives, Better Lives is a campaign funded by the Scottish Government

Change the laws to reduce alcohol consumption

A
  • They know around 2/3rds of violent crimes are linked to alcohol, so in a hope to reduce this they have created the Minimum Unit Pricing act to make alcohol more expensive to try stop people from drinking it.
  • For example, in 2024 the minimum pricing per unit of alcohol is 65p
