A

1) women were discouraged from work and and urged to take on war work.
2) the SS took over more of the government administration. Anyone who worked for the government had to join nazi party or lose their jobs.

Each of the armed forces were given their own ministry to coordinate supplies, troops etc by the new high commander of the armed forces, Wilhelm keitel as each force competed for the biggest budget for their needs.

the ss were in charge of clearing out any undesirables. The new regional governments run reichsstatthalter had the job of allocating the land to incomming germans and running it as part o germany.

What problems did Germany face in the quest for lebenstraum.

A

When in Poland, Hitler did not trust poland and used them only for labor and polish leaders were to be shot to not hold themselves back.
Furthermore southern Poland were used as a colony used as a dumping ground for all poles and desirables most of which lived in bad conditions and used as slaves.
number of Poland were deported east to make room for half a million Germans.

Explain the increasing power of the gauleiters.

A

Because there was much more land o govern centralization was harder. they gained more power when the British bombing started, they were in charge of all the civil defense measures eg firefighting, bombing, rationing and rehousing.august 1994, the decree “ for the implementation of total war mobilization” gave guliters more control over tehlocal bureaucracy, not just Nazi part officials, and gave them significant powers over local businesses .

A

USSR did not collapse and so Germany had to fight in two fronts. then USA joined the war overstretching germn army. As a result boys were enscripted.

A

resources were bought from captured lands eg France.

however some local shops were closed down because they did not adhere tho the policy of “the total war”

A

families lost their men and children evacuated as hard to convince war was invisible. hard living conditions. thus government lost support and resistant grew.

What did Hitler do once the allies landed in Normandy and allied troops moved towards Berlin?

A

Hitler moved to a safe bunker in Berlin with Eva braun and the Goebbels family. he and braun married then committed suicide in 30 April 1945. then Goebbels did the same following day.

A

varied depending on age and type of work, eg someone doing heavy work was allowed 4200 calories a day compared to 2400 calories allowed to anoffice worker. people were given colour coded ration acrds each months.
