Trustee
Lawmaker who votes based on their conscience & judgement, not necessarily by the views of their constituents
Delegate
Member of Congress who voted based on the wishes of their constituents
Partisan
Lawmakers who owe their first allegiance to their political party, and vote according to the party line
Term
A 2-year period of each odd numbered year that starts a new congress

Why do incumbents have an advantage for getting election
Name familiarity, higher odds of donation from party or businesses

The gun free zone act was declared unconstitutional because Congress exceeded its authority under the commerce clause
Tax power
Congress has the power to impose taxes
Barrowing power
Congress has the power to barrow money on the credit of the US
Currency power
Power to coin money, regulate the value of thereof, and of foreign coin, and fix the standards of weight and measure
War power
Congress as the sole power to declare war
What is the difference between expressed and implied powers?
Express powers are written in the constitution, implied powers can be reasonably inferred from the constitution, but is not stated
What is a strict constructionist
Strict interpretation of the constitution, once a federal government with limited power, more power to the states
What is a liberal constructionist
Liberal interpretation of the constitution, more power to the federal government, believe in broader implied powers
What does it mean to impeach? (only the house can do so)

3. Sent to subcommittee on the const

Removal process
1.trial goes to senate A1,S3,C6-7
-2/3 vote needed to remove, otherwise acquitted
2. 2/3 vote guilty official is removed from office or also prohibited from all further office holding on top of removal

House rules committee role
The House Rules Committee considers all bills reported from policy and fiscal committees and determines whether, and in what order, to schedule their consideration on the floor of the House. The Rules Committee also reviews, adopts and schedules consideration of floor resolutions.

Bill is introduced, bill is sent to committee for study and off approved sent to full house/senate, debated on floor and sent to other chamber to restart the process, conference committee resolves differences and send it back to both, house and Senate vote if approved sent to president, President will sign to become a law or leave it alone without signature enough to become a law. If President Vetos 2/3 vote overrides
