Duo-Safety. Alco-lite.
What ladder is genrally heavier, have I-bean construction hand rungs are pressed into place?
Alco-lite.
What ladder is generally lighter, solid construciton beams and have rungs welded into place?
Duo-Safety.
What ladder can be used as a straight ladder, or put into an a-frame configuration?
Folding ladder. (little giant)
Ladder with very narrow profile and is collapseable.
Attic Ladder
Once piece ladder come in varrying lengths. Designed to spread out weight and one end has hooks.
Roof ladder
Ladder of varied length and comprised of more than one section
Extension ladder
Similar ot extension ladder but has “tormentor poles” due to the height.
Bangor ladder
One piece straight ladder used to reach an objective. Light and quick throw.
Wall Ladder. (no hooks)
What is the working load for all ladders above 12’?
750 lbs. 300lbs for the 10’attic ladder and Folding ladder.
Number of personnel on ladders should follow these guidlines:
28 ft or less- 2 firefighters maximum load
35 ft or less- 3 firefighters maximum load
NFPA requires all ladders have a safety factor of 4:1.
All of these are parts of ladders except one: Tormentor Poles, Swivel, Spurs, rung plates, Anchor bolts, halyard, butt, swivel, guides, dogs.
Anchor bolts is not a real part.
how should ladders be positioned for inspection?
Laid on the ground with fly up.
Unless absolutely necessary due to situation, ladders should not be placed:
in front of Entrances or exits that may cause an obstruction.
Into or against andy burning objects or windows.
Against rounded roof surfaces or against the slope of a pitched roof, which may cause ladder to slide.
In a manner which the butt of the ladder straddles a hoseline.
