2nd earthquake happened in may 2015 measuring a 7.3 magnitude on the Richter scale

Nepal’s tourism was expected to increase by 5.8% in 2015, after the earthquake this caused tourism, employment to reduce

Earthquake happened before monsoon season, where rice was planted. 2/3 of Nepal’s population depends on farming, caused income loss

Environmental
Earthquake triggered an avalanche on Mount Everest

Members of the ethnic group, Sherpas, continued with tourism despite the dangers of the avalanche, to increase tourism income and get them out of poverty

Social :
Temporary shelters put up

The untied nations (UN) and World Health Organisation (WHO) distributed medical supplies to worst affected areas. This was important as monsoon season came early, increasing water borne diseases.

Economic:
DEC raised US$126 mill to provide emergency aid and rebuild worst hit areas

Companies didn’t charge phone bills

Environmental:
Nepal’s mountainous terrain and inadequate roads made it difficult for aid to reach remote villages
