A pilgrimage is a journey to a holy place for example, Lourdes and Jerusalem.
people may go on pilgrimages to connect with God to pray for themselves, or the sick to show thanks to God through dedication of the time and attention to him, and help them feel part of the community and seek spiritual emotional and physical healing
“ every year, Jesus, his parents went to Jerusalem for the festival of Passover” (Luke) this itself as a pilgrimage

Q

How does the church present the Trinity?

A

As a mystery that we are not intended to understand, only to believe in as it shows God is omnipotent, omnipotent evidence and omnipotence and helps people understand the way that he works. However, some believe the Trinity is poly ether them and promotes worshipping false idols.

Q

incarnation

A

Believe that God became man in the person of Jesus
The apostles creed states jesus is “of one substance with the farther” which supports the idea of incarnation
-“ the holy want to be born, will be called son of God” Luke
-important because it shoes that jesus is fully god and fully human therefore means that Jesus had a human nature and divine nature. We can see human nature in this in luke when it states how “ Jesus wept” because Lazarus had died we can see his divine nature through him, performing miracles, like turning water into wine and his resurrection “he has risen” luke

Q

What is the significance of incarnation in response to evil and suffering?

A

Catholics believe that since God took on human form and suffered through his passion. Go truly understands this afternoon when and if it happens.
“ my God, why have you forsaken me?” Matthew and this means that Jesus can be a comfort to those who suffer and help them spiritually and mentally, and therefore suffering makes you more like Christ.

Q

arguments on incarnation

A

-people do not believe in incarnation, for example, Jews, because they believe there’s only one God and son believe that it’s impossible for a man to be divine
-catholics believe in incarnation as they believe in the trinity, and they believed he was divine as he was conceived through the Holy Spirit and therefore was born without Original Sin, and he resurrected

Q

kenosis:

A

can I have this means to empty out, and it’s the idea that Jesus gave up or emptied in self of some of his divine qualities when he became human. I believe this as Jesus could not have been transcendent as existed on Earth, and therefore not out of space and time. in Saint John Paul’s letter to the Philippines “emptied himself”
