Goniometry & MM Testing Flashcards
What is arthrokinematics?
Motion of joint surfaces
Motions of Joint surfaces
- slide
- glide
- spin
- roll
Osteokinematics?
Gross movement of shafts of bones
What position do you start in when using goniometry?
Start at “0” in anatomical position
What are the types of End feels?
Soft
Empty
Boney
Hard
Hypermobility
Excessive mobility. LIgaments and joint problems
Hypomobility
Decreased mobility; MM and tendon tears
What is a hypermobility Test?
Beighton Index -fingers -elbows -knee -thumb -hands on floor (forward flexion) (two points for each limb, except hands touching the floor is one point)
Capsular patters
Joint capsule is restricting motion= High reduction in medial rotation and abduction
Why use a mm length test?
If mm is too long or too short
Inclamamator is used for?
The spine that has air in it and uses gravity
When Measuring always document?
Pt position in ROM; order; dont make patient roll over a lot; get pt as relaxed as possible.
It is important to watch for ______ when measuring ROM?
compensatory movements
Stroke or TBI’s are ideal patients for doing a MMT?
False: they dont have good coordination therefore dont give a good MMT
What test’s are best for MMT?
- Rep. Max=record
- resistive test; isolate mm=Strong: painful or painless; Weak: painful or painless
