Why has God got several names ?
God is not revealed to us in the Bible as being called just God. He is referred to by other names, each which reveal a certain aspect of His character.
Yahweh
The Lord
Adonai
A name for God meaning “ My Lord” or “master,” which the Israelites used out of respect for the sacredness of the name YHWH.
Adonai comes from the plural form of adon (Lord). Hence, Adonai is a reference to the Trinity, as well as a reference to God.
Elohim
God “Creator, Mighty and Strong, the God of Israel in the Old Testament.
