What is “The Faith”?
Jude 3 - The Faith is the thing preached.
Eph. 4:4-6 -The Faith is the subject of faith, not the act of faith.
Cite the Apostolic claim that Jesus promised the Holy Spirit would teach them all gospel things.
John 14:26 - Christ promised that the Holy Spirit will come to the apostles to teach them all things.
John 16:13 - Christ said that the Spirit will guide them into all truths.
What is a “pattern of teaching”?
2 Tim. 1:13 - They’ve heard teachings from Paul which he instructed them to hold onto.
2 Tim. 2:2 - There is a teaching which Paul expects them to teach to those who will also be able to teach.
How did the apostles receive God’s Word?
Gal. 1:11-12 - They received it by revelation.
Eph. 3:3-5 - By revelation, the mystery was revealed by the Spirit.
How did the apostles teach God’s Word?
1 Cor. 2:13 - By inspiration, the Holy Spirit revealed it to them, and they taught it by the power of the Holy Spirit.
Eph. 3:3-5 - They speak by the power of the Holy Spirit.
How did the apostles deliver God’s Word?
1 Cor. 2:10,13 - What they received in verse 10, they preached it in verse 13.
2 Thess. 2:15 - They delivered it by word of mouth or written.
What is the fundamental basis for Christian unity?
1 Cor. 4:17 - Implies that the teachings of Paul that he taught everywhere in every church, serve as the basis for Christian unity.
John 17:21 - John prays for unity and their belief, which is in the teachings.
Bonus question: the difference between “fundamentals of faith” and “fundamentals of the faith”.
James 2:19 - Of Faith: Personal belief. Even demons believe.
