God's plan to reconcile mankind to Himself Flashcards
Election
God chooses Christ to be the Savior of mankind. 1 Peter 2:4 Coming to Him as to a living stone, rejected indeed by men, but chosen by God and precious,
Predestination
God’s knowledge that His choice of Christ will reconcile man to Himself. Romans 8:29 For whom He foreknew, He also predestined to be conformed to the image of His Son, that He might be the firstborn among many brethren. 30 Moreover whom He predestined, these He also called; whom He called, these He also justified; and whom He justified, these He also glorified.
Atonement
The method God uses, Christ as a payment for sin. 1 Peter 2:22 “Who committed no sin, Nor was deceit found in His mouth”; 23 who, when He was reviled, did not revile in return; when He suffered, He did not threaten, but committed Himself to Him who judges righteously; 24 who Himself bore our sins in His own body on the tree, that we, having died to sins, might live for righteousness—by whose stripes you were healed.
Redemption
As a result of Christ’s atoning sacrifice on the cross, those who are united to Christ have no condemnation for their sins. Eph 1:7 In Him we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of His grace
Regeneration
The point of transformation when faith is expressed in repentance and baptism resulting in being united to Christ. John 3:3 Jesus answered and said to him, “Most assuredly, I say to you, unless one is born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.” 4 Nicodemus said to Him, “How can a man be born when he is old? Can he enter a second time into his mother’s womb and be born?” 5 Jesus answered, “Most assuredly, I say to you, unless one is born of water and the Spirit, he cannot enter the kingdom of God.
