Philosophy of religion
Critical examination of the supposed bond/ relationship between human beings and an alleged divine or ultimate being/realm seeking to answer the question if such a belief is rationally justifiable
Natural theology
Theology- science of surfy of knowledge of God
Study or science or knowledge through the natural intellect ie by the mind
St Thomas 5 ways to prove gods existence
1) motion- whatever is moved must be moved by another, not the cause of its own movement, first mover.
2) efficient cause- all effects have a cause
3) possibility and necessity- can’t go on to infinity, that which does not exist begins to exist only through something already existing
4) something to all beings the cause of their being goodness and every other perfection
5) governance- lacks knowledge cannot move toward an end
Cosmological argument
Thomas five ways.
A posteriori theory, relies on sense experience
The universe must be caused by something outside of space and time by something uncaused and ultimate
Concerns with Thomas five points
All refer to the being we call God From nothing nothing comes Something cannot be the cause of itself God must have a cause then World always existed
