what do the smarter principles mean?
specific- goals should relate to the task, more effective.
measurable- evaluated and measured.
achievable- must be agreed by coach and athlete.
realistic- should be challenging but attainable.
timed- short, intermediate or long.
ethical/exciting- prevents boredom.
recorded- written down and logged.
what is the difference between short term and long-term goals?
short term- immediate success, completed in a sequence that becomes more difficult.
long term- long time to achieve eg. making spring Bok team
what are the 3 types of goals?
3ps
performance - comparing results of an athlete to the previous performance.
process- concerned with improving techniques.
product-outcome goals, focuses on the end result and is externally controlled eg. winning a tennis match
