What is an outcome goal?
A
- judges the performance of an individual against the other competitors
- e.g. Winning the race of finishing in the top three
- can be demotivating if the performer does not achieve this goal

What is performance goal?
A
- judges the performance of the performer against his or her own standards
- for example the performer to achieve their personal best
- can reduce anxiety as performer does not have to worry about comparison to others

What are process orientated goals
A
- development of tactics and techniques of the performer to contribute to the overall goal
- e.g a swimmer may set a tighter tumble turn
- both long term and short term goals
