GMAT Quant Flashcards
MPrep Class 2, C - Fractions
Ugly question stem = simplify FIRST
**Careless Mistake - MUST distribute the division across both terms
PS 8 - C - Fractions
look at the answer choices FIRST (estimate)
Don’t jump into computation + look for patterns to avoid (parenthesis were hiding the canceling)
MPrep, Ratios - D
To combine multiple ratios, line up in : form
Common “denominator” in ratios is just where they match
MPrep - B
NO REAL NUMBERS GIVEN = Smart Numbers
Fractional, percent, multiplicative relationships = RATIOS
**Make a table to stay organized
PS MPrep - C
- ANSWER CHOICES FIRST!! (small and easy = Work Backwards)
- Question wants a plug-in-able value (price) - good for working backwards
Start w/ B and D!
OG DS 408 - A
TEST CASES
- use extremes to save you time on the math:
“less than $602… could be $0.01”
“less than $30… could be $0.01”
OG PS 20
ANSWER CHOICES: spread out (estimate) and clean (work backwards)
Lots of ratio relationships and the number given is OUTPUT rather than INPUT.
Option 1: could work backwards (but that was a bit annoying here).
Option 2: YES! set up the ratios and then scale up!
