Glycolytic System Flashcards
When is the Glycolytic system used?
When ATP-CrP stores or exahusted and mitochindrial repiration is too slow
Activitiy examples for glycolytic system?
short-medium duration (2-3) mins. Ex: Wrestling and boxing round
How many ATP does it take to activate pathway for glycolysis?
2 ATP. 2 ATP goes in!!
What are the by products of glycoylis?
4 ATP, 2 NADH, 1 H+, 2 Pyruvate
What the NET by products of glycolysis?
2 ATP, 2 NADH, 1 H+, 2 Pyruvate
There are two fates of pyruvate. Which one happens during light intensity exercise?
Pyrovate, NADH, and H+ are shuffled into mitochondria for mitochondrial resperation.
This is GOOD because H+ is being removed from muscle sarcoplasm which helos maintain a neutral PH within muscle fiber
There are two fates of pyruvate. Which one happens during high intensity or short durration exercise?
NADH and H+ produced during glycoylis reduce pyruvate to lactate.
This is BAD because H+ is still in the sarcoplasm which decreases PH and the acicity can shut down anarobic metabolic pathways and cause muscle “burn”
Lactate does NOT cause muscle pain and fatigue. Its actually the ______ that causes msucle pain
H+
Lactate can be shuffled into surronding muscle fibers, the liver, or other tisues via _________ to converted into _______ or _____.
blood circulation
ATP
new glucose
