O: Sacrum and coccyx (posterior) / Ilium (posterior) / Sacrotuberous ligament
I: 3/4 into IT Band / Gluteal tuberosity
A: Prime mover for hip extension, lateral rotation, abduction
Inn: Inferior gluteal nerve
Gluteus Maximus
O: External ilium (anterior 2/3rds)
I: Lateral greater trochanter
A: Prime mover for hip abduction, internal/external rotators (flexion/extension), pelvic support
Inn: Superior gluteal nerve
Gluteus Medius
O: External Ilium (deep gluteus medius)
I: Anterior greater trochanter (deep gluteus medius)
A: Hip abductors, medial rotators, flexion (anterior fibres)
Inn: Superior gluteal nerve
Gluteus Minimus
An abnormal gait found in people with weak abductor muscle (medius) of the hip supplied by the superior gluteal nerve
Trendelenburg Gait
O: Outer ASIS
I: IT Band (1/3rd down thigh)
A: Hip flexion, abduction, medial rotation
Inn: Superior gluteal nerve
