ANT. QUADRICEPS Flashcards
The most common inferior attachment of the quadriceps muscle
Tibial Tuberosity Quadriceps tendon (Patellar Ligament)
O: AIIS and superior acetabulum rim
I: Tibial Tuberosity
A: Prime mover for knee extension, hip flexion (only quad muscle to cross hip joint)
Inn: Femoral nerve
Rectus Femoris
O: Lateral lip of linea aspera
I: Tibial Tuberosity
A: Knee joint extension
Inn: Femoral nerve
Vastus Lateralis
O: Medial lip of linea aspera
I: Tibial Tuberosity
A: Knee joint extension
Inn: Femoral nerve
“teardrop shaped”
Vastus Medialis
O: Medial distal femur, vastus medialis, adductor magnus
I: Medial patellar
A: Prevents excessive lateral tracking (pulls patella medially)
Inn: Femoral nerve
Vastus Medialis Obliquus
O: Proximal 2/3rds of femur
I: Tibial Tuberosity
A: Knee joint extension
Inn: Femoral nerve
Vastus Intermedius
O: ASIS
I: Proximal anteromedial tibia (pes anserinus tendon)
A: Pulls capsule proximally during knee extension preventing pinching
Inn: Femoral nerve
Articularis Genus
O: ASIS
I: Proximal anteromedial tibia (pes anserinus tendon)
A: Hip joint flexion, abduction, lateral oration, knee flexion, medial rotation (flexed) “(crossing of leg in seated position)”
Inn: Femoral nerve
“long, slim, superficially running extensor of thigh”
Sartorius
