- On otoscopy
Effusion behind the ear

What are the investigations?
A
To finish the exam i would like to - full crania nerve examination and refer to audiometry
By the bed - History, obs
Bloods - FBC

What are the key investigation findings?
A
Conductive hearing loss

What is the treatment?
A
Conservative - Exaplain what it is and what has happened. Can watch and wait and see what happens
Medical - Hearing aids
Surgical - Grommets

What are the risk factors?
A
- Not sure why but it is a build up of mucours in the middle ear
- Kids eustachian tubes are smaller, shorter and narrower
