Q

what are their functions

A
  • C.E. - have small pores - enables faster passing and also due to fenestration and Hydrostatic pressure .
  • B.M. - lot of negative charge on it. proteins also have negative charge and so repels B.M. and can’t pass through.
  • podocytes - extends arms - make sure every bit of capillary is covered.

Q

what is proteinuria

A
  • protein in the urine
  • filter isn’t working properly
  • diabetes - high levels of glucose in the blood damages the filter
  • sugar also corrodes the endothelium
  • high B.P. - already high HP due to afferent and efferent arteriole. this is higher therefore capillaries and structures damaged in filter.
