Globalization
The process of interaction and integration between people of different nations which is driven by international trade, investment and modern information technology.
Cultural Globalization
The notion of people globally creating a shared culture as a result of access to the internet, popular culture media, and international travel.
Local Culture
The culture that we grow up in and share others in the same environment
Global Culture
The culture that we come to learn and potentially adapt to through contact with other cultures - whether it be travel, media or social media.
Bicultural identity
This is the argument that today most people worldwide combine both their local culture and the global culture to shape their identity.
2 problems bicultural identity can lead to
Identity Confusion
Sense of marginalization
Delocalization
The process of an individual having a high level of global consciousness, but having a weak connection to their local culture, resulting possible in identity confusion and feelings of alienation.
Self-selected cultures
This is one of the way in which an individual can escape feelings of identity confusion by creating self-selected, smaller cultures with like minded people (e.g. together not believing in the values of the modern world)

- Strict code of conduct
- Belief of superior values compared to modern values
- Belief in hierarchy of authority
