What is Op Azotize?
Op Azoitize is the RAF’s contribution to the NATO Baltic air policing.
As of April this has been handed over to the RAF from the German Luftwaffe.
Conducted air policing over Lithuania and Estonia.
Have been conducting QRA with French and Spanish Air Force.
What is Op Biloxi?
The RAF’s contribution to NATO’s enhanced air policing missions.
2022 saw the Typhoons fly three times more missions than any other previous UK enhanced Air Policing.
Conducted over Romania.
What is Op Aluminium?
Op Aluminium is UK patrols on behalf of NATO’s enhanced forward presence following the Russian invasion of Ukraine.
Typhoons and Voyager used for A2A refuelling.
Happening over Poland and Romania.
What is Op Cabrit?
Op Cabaret is the name of the UK operational deployment to Estonia where British troops are leading a multinational battlegroup as part of the Enhanced Forward Presence.
RAF Regiment are exercising the role of co-ordinating and delivering air support in proximity of friendly forces.
What is Op Rockhard/+?
Russian facing intelligence collection flights by 51 Sqn.
Recently following the ‘incident’ the Typhoons have been escorting the RJ during ‘Feet Wet’ missions.
What is Op Shader?
Operation Shader is combatting Daesh in Iraq and Eastern Syria.
8000+ Sorties for Tornados
Typhoon and Reaper striking Daesh 1300+ times in Iraq and 260+ in Syria.
Nothing has been dropped since since 2021.
This mission focus has changed to a more ISR type.
What is Op Kipion?
Op Kipion is the RAF’s support to the Royal Navy Hellcat Helicopters. (ISR rotary asset)
Also provide intra-theatre shuttles, baggage handling and ground support.
What is Op Newcombe?
Supporting counter insurgency Ops with French and Mali forces.
Our tactical support wing from RAF Brize Norton are providing multinational air-to-air refuelling.
We are also providing tactical airlift support, with the following Air Assets:
- x3 Chinook
- C-17
- A400M
What is Op Tangham?
UK Armed forces efforts to tackle Islamic extremists in Somalia.
Aiming to provide stability and security through training and education.
Began in 2017, as of 2020 500 British trained Graduates.

Recently the RAF has been involved in the evacuation effort from Wadi Sedna airfield in Sudan. Successfully transporting over 2,100 evacuee’s from Sudan to safety.
