Glass Types Flashcards
Single Pane
[77] Thats like throwing money out the window
Double Pane
Call it a Thermal window but just glass and air - [60] - impossible to save money on energy if you’re losing 60% of your heat
Triple Pane
If two panes are better then one than 3 is definitely better then 2 -[50] - Now starting to save money on energy but its very heavy and tends to fail operationally
Double Pane Low E
Thin metallic coating on the glass that reflects heat (Tin Foil Analogy). This is a tin coating on the glass - {55} - so a little better than Double pane but not as good as triple pane but much more practical
Triple Pane Low E
Grandaddy of Energy Efficient windows, can still find this window today for $1500-$1700
OK - [45] This is a window that pays for itself
5 Pane Low E
Imagine we could make a window with 5 pane Panes of Glass and Low E (would be so heavy and probably $2000 a window) - [27] - can you imagine if you were saving 70% of your energy
But thats not realistic
Insulation
If all you care you about is energy savings, you could put insulation between the glass - [4] - obviously people would think you were crazy and you would live in darkness so this isn’t realistic.
the fun part though is that it does come in 3 different colors…
Pink, Blue and Yellow
Heat Shield
This is our Glass, it looks the same. But this is our exclusive glass that we call heat shield technology. It has 3 layers of silver.
Silver is the best reflector other than gold.
(Nasa Analogy)

This is a direct correlation to your energy bills as you can see you are currently losing this amount of energy through your windows.
With Heat Shield Technology you are retaining 98% of your energy
Transition:
Can you see how these Windows pay for themselves?
What is Heat Shield
in addition to the 3 layers of Silver, Heat Shield glass is also 100% filled with Argon Gas
Argon gas is 6 times denser than air, and acts as an invisible insulator in the window!
How Heat Shield works
Heat Shield also works in both winter and summer, saving you money all year round.
Bottom Line the reason its so important to have an energy efficient windows is because of the rising cost of energy that we spoke about earlier.
